Friends of the Heart

 poem by Asma Fischer

at the end of the Heart’s Turn 2024 tour

You call to me with your fragrance,

in the dark night of your soul,

perfuming my life like Akşam sefası,

the queen of the night.

You bring color to my black-and-white world,

loosening my straitjacket,

inviting me to step out.

You are the friends of my heart.

You climb like morning glory,

meandering through trees and bushes,

turning back with a deep blue invitation,

beckoning me to freedom.

You are the friends of my heart.

You grow straight and deep green,

transparent as Light filters through.

You arrive in soft pink, deep red—

hibiscus calling me to a wild yet fragile world.

You are the friends of my heart.

You share your wounds,

and place salve on each other’s pain.

You remind me of Asma Altı’s shade,

where a stress-free zone blooms.

You are moonlight on my face,

hot sand between my toes,

lifting me to the stars,

yet keeping me grounded.

You are the friends of my heart.

You toss me like waves to distant shores,

polishing me like beach stones

with firm advice and gentle care.

Your Sema whirls for the Divine,

yet you welcome me into the sacred dance.

You are the friends of my heart.

Across oceans, you send prayers and love,

carried on wings of hope and encouragement.

You are the friends of the heart.

I love, cherish, and respect you.

Gratitude overflows to the Divine

for placing you in my path.

You are the friends of my heart.
