DESERT BLUES JOURNEY IN MOROCCO

May 1 - 10, 2027

A 10 day journey into the Sahara exploring Morocco’s Desert Blues and Amazigh music traditions.

Join LILA for our sixth annual trip to Morocco.

This year, we’re embarking on a new Sacred Music Journey — deeper into the desert, into the Amazigh music tradition and the sound of Desert Blues: the hypnotic, soulful tradition carried by nomadic peoples of the Sahara.

PLACES YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

We'll be hosted by Tarwa N-Tiniri, "Sons of the Desert," alongside longtime musician & LILA guide Samir Langus, and will cross paths with the wider musical family of the Southeast along the way — from Sahara Records to a campfire Desert Blues Night deep in the dunes of Erg Chigaga, where there is no stage separating artist from listener. Only the fire, the dunes, and the sound.

WHY TRAVEL WITH LILA?

  • Not Your Average Tour: We collaborate with local communities to offer authentic experiences not typically accessible to most travelers.

  • Deep Spiritual Exploration: These experiences can bring about transformation through music, dance, and sacred rituals, connecting you with yourself and the Divine.

  • Intimate Group Size: Small groups allow for exclusive access to spiritual rituals, local artists, master musicians, hidden locations, and deeper, more personalized experiences.

  • Purpose-Driven Travel: Your participation supports the preservation of endangered cultural traditions, helping them thrive for future generations.

“From the heart: This wasn't just a tour -- it was a total immersion into the rich cultural, musical, and spiritual gifts that Morocco has to offer.”

 -Simi M.
